We are seeking an experienced Mining Manager to lead and oversee open-pit mining operations at a large-scale site in Latin America. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production while maintaining compliance with environmental and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise in open-pit mining, and fluency in Spanish to effectively manage local teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of open-pit mining operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling
- Ensure production targets are achieved while optimizing operational efficiency and cost performance
- Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Develop and implement mine plans in collaboration with technical services teams
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage and mentor a diverse, multilingual workforce, fostering high performance and accountability
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and government authorities as required
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost control processes
- Ensure compliance with local laws, permits, and community engagement expectations
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum 10–15 years of mining experience, with significant time in open-pit operations
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role (e.g., Mine Superintendent, Operations Manager, or Mining Manager)
- Strong technical knowledge of open-pit mine planning and execution
- Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) is mandatory; English proficiency is highly desirable
- Experience working in Latin America or similar jurisdictions is strongly preferred
